This is a personal website and blog about free software and hardware. The purpose is to share both tutorials/articles/hacks as well as personal projects in order to show how easy and fun experimenting with technology can be.

Why "Toaster" ?

- Hacking with a toaster was the very firt idea I had as a kid, since then I've always somehow liked tosaters... - "Toasters" is a familiar word for the "cylons" in Battlestar Galactica TV series. A robot is nothing but a smart toaster.

The Open Donut Environment, est un projet Français de développement d'un nouvel environnement de bureau libre, sous licence GNU GPLv3 pour GNU/Linux. The Open Donut Environment n'est pas un environnement de bureau comme les autres. Il s'inspire des navigateurs fournis par les plus grandes marques d'ordinateurs dans les années 90, en forme de maison. Ce genre de navigateur ayant complètement disparu depuis la fin des années 90, puis tombé dans l'oubli, est le maître mot du concept du projet. The Open Donut Environment, contrairement à la plupart des environnements de bureau, est conçu pour les utilisateurs qui aiment prendre le temps dans leurs loisirs sur ordinateur pour contempler le côté eye-candy de l'interface graphique. L'environnement est codé en C++, avec les bibliothèques SDL.

Topy est un serveur de statistiques en temps réels écrit en C++ basé sur la libevent. Ce logiciel développé pour la plateforme de blogs de Skyrock (Topy produit des stats pour plus de 15 millions d'utilisateurs et permet de produire des classements d'utilisateurs en temps réel) est distribué sous licence GPL v3.

TQL is a Rust syntax extension (compiler plugin) providing a domain-specific language for SQL (GPLv3).

TRON (Tron Revisited On Network) is a 3D open-source Tron-like game programmed in C using OpenGL and licensed under the GPL v3.

TRON is a also a network-oriented game that can be played over the internet (UDP server/client interface) and who features fun implementations as missiles for the lightcycle, and various game-modes, as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Escape the Grid (one player versus all others has to run into a hole in the big grid, the others have to kill him before).

Description of the TUP taken from the website : The purpose of TUP is to keep an history of biggest "Uptime".

Uptime is time during a machine, a computer stays without restarting. In brief, time which a machine give a functionnality, whatever, continuously.

That’s a competition where goal is the honor of Geek, there is nothing to win other than satisfaction to be the first one of "Top List".

The uptime, a downright useless activity thus necessarily indispensable :)

Description du projet prise depuis le site web : Le but du TUP est de conserver un historique des plus gros "Uptime". L'Uptime est la durée pendant laquelle une machine, un ordinateur reste sans redémarrer. En bref, le temps qu'une machine passe à rendre un service, quel qu'il soit, sans interruption.

C'est un concours ou l'enjeu est l'honneur du Geek, il n'y a rien à gagner si ce n'est la satisfaction d'être le premier de la "Top List".

Le uptime, une activité carrément inutile donc forcément indispensable :)

VÉRAC est un projet de gestion d'un établissement scolaire dans le cadre d'une évaluation par compétences.

Il est composé de 3 parties : - une interface d'administration - une interface de gestion et saisie des évaluations par les professeurs - une interface de consultation en ligne pour les élèves et leurs parents

Ce projet est entièrement libre (licence GNU GPL 3), développé en Python et PyQt pour les parties admin et prof, et en php pour la partie élèves. Il utilise aussi des bases de données sqlite.

Videoporama est un logiciel dédié à la création de diaporama d'images exportés en vidéo. Il est distribué suivant la licence GPL V2 ou supérieure, ceci sans aucune garanties. Les options suivantes sont disponibles :

* Vidéo au format 4:3 ou 16:9. * Avec ou sans transitions entre les photos. * Possibilité de définir le type de transition image par image. * ajout d'une bande son au montage (wav, ogg ou mp3) * sortie en PAL (720x576), NTSC (720x480), SECAM (720x576), Web (384x288), HD 720 (1280x720) ou HD 1080 (1920x1080) * Fichiers au format Raw dv (.dv), AVI (codec dv), MPEG (VCD, SVCD et DVD), FLV (vidéo Flash) et H264 (MPEG4 part 10 AVC). * ajout d'une image de fond (pour les images orientées en portrait) ou ajout d'une couleur de fond. (Remarque : l'image doit avoir la même géométrie que les images avec éventuellement des déformations).

Videoporama is a software designed to make image slideshow, export to video file. It's given under the GPL V2 or above licence and it's given without any warranty. Following options are available :

* With or without transitions between images. * Image geometry : 4:3 or 16:9 * Display time is set image by image * Transition type is defined image by image. * Add a sound to slideshow (wav, ogg ou mp3) * Output in PAL (720x576), NTSC (720x480), SECAM (720x576), Web (384x288), HD 720 (1280x720) ou HD 1080 (1920x1080) * Output file format : Raw dv (.dv), AVI (codec dv), MPEG (VCD, SVCD et DVD), FLV (Flash video format) et H264 (MPEG4 part 10 AVC). * Add a background image (For images which are in portrait) or add a background color. (Notice : The image should have the same geometry than the other images).

I started a project named the VoyaTrax CMS Project in 2014. The output of that is vtCMS, a modded version of XOOPS 2.0.18.2 (we were planning a 2.5.7.1 version, see the website as to why NOT) with some improvement that never found it's way there. I've added a Terms, Privacy Ploicy, Imprint, Disclaimer and an About Us page. All hardcoded into the system along with backend administration, including an editor.

Other enhancement include UTF-8 as well as modules that are needed in every CMS, such as a contact module, security module, a language module for multilingual content. Another enhancement is an Cookie announcement - compliant with the European Cookie Law.

Many more enhancements are in planning as well as getting some general purpose modules upto date. Themeing is also a place where lot's of enhancemet need to take place.

Of course I'm sticking to the GPL, the original core is GPLv2 but I'm uping that to GPLv3.
